Instance Latching

Latching in an Oracle database is a mechanism used to orchestrate access to internal database memory structures. During high volumes of concurrent database activity the allocation of database latches may be stressed and lead to performance issues. For this reason it is good to know exactly what type of latches are causing performance issues.

RIYOSU’s database performance management software(Speedway) can poll the database at regular pre-determined intervals and provide a real-time analysis on which latches are running hot. This real-time information can be used to diagnose and subsequently tune performance issues with database latching problems.
